Open-access articles in The Applied Biology & Chemistry Journal (TABCJ) are published under Creative Commons licenses. These provide an industry-standard framework to support easy re-use of open-access material. Under Creative Commons licenses, authors retain the copyright of their articles.

TABCJ articles are published open access under a CC BY-NC 4.0 license (Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International license). The CC BY license is the most open license available and is considered the industry 'gold standard' for open access. The authors of the articles published in TABCJ hold the copyright of the articles. This license allows readers to copy, redistribute, remix, transform, or build upon the material in any medium or format and for any purpose, but non-commercial.

Copyright aims to protect the specific way the article has been written to describe an experiment and the results. The Applied Biology & Chemistry Journal is committed to its authors to protect and defend their work and their reputation and takes allegations of infringement, plagiarism, ethic disputes, and fraud very seriously. Copyright on any research article is retained by the author(s). Authors grant the journal a license to publish the article and identify itself as the original publisher. Authors also grant any third party the right to use the article freely as long as its original authors, citation details, and publisher are identified.
